Presentation tools

I’ll be trying some experiments in my future presentations. I’ve decided to move away from the traditional Powerpoint files. It’s too mode oriented for me. I’d like the freedom to switch to other windows as part of the demonstration. To do this from Powerpoint breaks the flow of the presentation. I recently found some interesting tools that caught my eye as good replacements.

  1. Tiddlywiki is an excellent tool for writing microcontent. In a way, the list of points you put on a screen during your presentation might well be described as microcontent. I found tiddlywiki invaluable for displaying my points clearly while maintaining the connecting thread between two tiddlers (slides, in Powerpoint parlance). That’s because my audience gets to see the slide that I just pulled up, as well as a few of the more recent slides.
  2. S5 is a set of slides in your browser. It’s more suitable for a “techy presenter since the slides are built using xhtml. It should be OK for any audience though ;-)
